Meet Our Team Members in Sydney

David Bugg — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

David Bugg

David Bugg is a senior podiatrist and director of Sydney City Podiatry. David has extensive knowledge of podiatric complaints, lower limb biomechanics and sports injuries. He is regularly invited by the national media, including Channel Nine and The Sun-Herald, to share his expertise in this area. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Sydney and a clinical supervisor at their podiatry teaching clinic. As a former athlete David has a keen interest in the treatment and prevention of injuries in athletes, whether they be professional sportspersons or clients who like to keep fit and pain free. David's extensive experience comes from years of treating elite athletes at Valentine Park Sports Medicine Centre, Sydney AFL clubs and Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre. Playing senior Australian Rules for 14 years prior to practising podiatry, David regularly experienced chronic shin pain and received regular podiatric treatment. Based on this personal experience, David can empathise first-hand with clients that have sports/activity related injuries.

Matthew Percy — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Matthew Percy is a senior podiatrist and director of Sydney City Podiatry. Mathew has extensive knowledge of podiatric complaints, particularly lower limb biomechanics and sports medicine. Beyond Sydney City Podiatry, Matthew has presented at national and international conferences including the Australian Podiatry Conference 2001, International Olympic Conference of Sports Science 2000 and NSW Podiatry Conference 1999. He has also been published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medicine Association, received the Ted and Grace Renton Memorial Award in 2000 for Excellence in Biomechanics and featured on A Current Affair as a podiatric expert to examine the influence that running footwear have on sports injuries. Additionally, Matthew has supervised teaching clinics and lectured at the University of Huddersfield (UK) and University of Western Sydney. Matthew, a former semi-professional soccer player has had extensive experience with the treatment of elite athletes and sports people including West Ham United Football Club (English Premier League), Central Coast Mariners Football Club (Australian A-league) and Blacktown City Football Club (NSW Premier League).

Joel has worked with the Sydney city podiatry group for 19 years full time and is currently at all of the 3 sites (city, Chatswood and Bella vista) Joel has extensive experience in diagnosis and treatment of sports and activity related injury and has a special interest in AFL, soccer and running related injuries.


Over the years Joel has treated Sydney Swans AFL players at academy level, as well as senior Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers soccer players. 


As a Podiatrist Joel also sees patients for ongoing care and maintenance of their feet of all ages including diabetics with treatment aim to always promote activity and wellbeing, some of Joel's patients have been with him for 19 years but he is also available to see New, first-time patients.

Kylie Williams — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Kylie has always had a keen interest in diabetes treatment and preventing foot complications. After graduating with a medical degree, she went back to study podiatry with personal interest in chronic illness and how it affects the feet. Kylie has had great success with wound management, managing diabetes-related foot problems with a focus on laser therapy for chronic nail fungus. 


Currently she is fully accredited by the Australian Podiatry Association. She practises applying the most recent evidence-based research to her podiatry practice.

Nancy Lee — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Nancy Lee has extensive knowledge of podiatric complaints, with a specific interest in lower limb biomechanics, diabetes, and nail surgery. Nancy's background in diabetic podiatry has provided her with expertise in relation to managing high-risk clients with complex medical histories. Nancy sold footwear before becoming a podiatrist. This provided her with footwear selection and fitting experience. Nancy is an active gymnast and dancer. Based on this personal experience, Nancy can empathise firsthand with clients that have sports injuries.

Sarah Howley — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

As a very active junior athlete, Sarah had her first encounter with podiatry, requiring orthotic therapy to successfully treat on-going knee pain. This sparked an interest that saw Sarah commence her studies in Human Movement at the University of South Australia in 2005, before completing a Bachelor of Applied Science, Podiatry, in 2008.


Sarah went on to work as a podiatrist in Central London in 2009, before joining the Sydney City Podiatry Team in 2011. She works between the Chatswood and Darlinghurst Clinics, and has a keen interest in Sports and Biomechanics, in-grown toenail management and surgery, as well as general skin and nail care (including the use of lasers for the treatment of fungal nails and warts).


Sarah continues to enjoy her role as a podiatrist due to the diversity of the work, and the broad range of clients, young and old that she has the privilege of working with.

Neil Hinchliffe — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Neil Hinchliffe graduated at the Chelsea School of Chiropody, London 1983. He then worked out of the West Middlesex Hospital in West London for four years before moving to Sydney in 1987. Since then, Neil has been in private practice and has worked in Chatswood for over 16 years. In 23 years of practice, Neil has undertaken such post-graduate studies as advanced biomechanics and further studies in diabetes.

Matthew is very passionate about helping people of all ages. Matthew holds degrees in both podiatry and health sciences from the Universities of Sydney and Newcastle. He has completed various other courses in addition to these degrees which focus on alternative treatment and assessment protocols. Thanks to his extensive education, Matthew has been able to bring a unique, holistic and comprehensive approach to the way he manages issues ranging from general podiatry, paediatrics, and sports and injury management. Matthew regularly attends the gym and plays several forms of football, basketball and kickboxing. This has assisted him in the treatment of professional and amateur athletes from various sports such as bowling, rugby league, soccer, middle and long distance running, basketball and boxing. Whilst Matthew is very knowledgeable about the diverse nature of all common issues relating to the feet and knees, he has a deep interest in lower limb biomechanics, paediatrics (including growing pains and developmental milestones) and the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries. Matthew works at our Chatswood and Bella Vista clinics, as well as the new Sydney West Sports Medicine clinic next to the Rooty Hill RSL.

Monique Bakija — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Monique Bakija has had a keen interest in podiatry ever since she was a young girl. From the age of 5 when starting Netball she has been receiving podiatry intervention for her ankles and knees and has seen firsthand how manipulation and orthotics can benefit someone’s pain levels and increase function. Monique graduated from Western Sydney University in 2016 with a bachelor’s in health science and masters in Podiatric Medicine. Monique was also awarded the Ted and Grace Benton Award for Biomechanical Excellence in her final year of studies. During her degree she had the opportunity to be placed in Galway, Ireland in which she worked in a hospital setting, dealing with many high-risk diabetic patients and conducting chronic and acute wound care. Monique moved out to Dubbo for her first year of work which was important for her to see all aspects of podiatry and work with some disadvantaged individuals. Monique currently has a keen interest in biomechanics and wound care. Monique currently also provides services such as laser therapy for fungal nail infections and nail surgeries. 

Isabella Ooi — Sydney, NSW — Sydney City Podiatry

Isabella is a registered podiatrist with the Australian Podiatry Association having graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Podiatric Medicine. She has experience within both public and private sectors, trained with podiatric surgeons and overseas in Galway, Ireland. Isabella is passionate about servicing her community and playing an active role in improving someone's quality of life. She has a holistic treatment approach incorporating evidence-based practice, extending to lifestyle modifications and orthotic therapy. Isabella has a particular interest in general foot care (especially diabetic patients), laser therapy for fungal nails and plantar warts, treating ingrown nails and nail surgery. She currently practices from our Chatswood and Darlinghurst clinics.
